Retail industry to grow 5 - 8pc in 2010
With an optimistic outlook for the retail industry this year, the Malaysian Retail-Chains Association (MRCA) expects it to grow between five to eight per cent. However, the MRCA is cautious over the external factors that currently influence the global market, said its Secretary General, Valerie Choo. "The industry has grown compared to last year. Focus Point Expects To Raise RM16.07 Million From IPO
Focus Point Holdings Bhd, the country's largest chain of professional eyecare centres, expects to raise about RM16.07 million from its public issue in Bursa Malaysia's ACE Market. Focus Point's initial public offering (IPO) consists of a public issue of 41.2 million new ordinary shares and offer for sale of 15.8 million ordinary shares to identified investors at an offer price of 39 sen per share. According to Focus Point's president and chief executive officer Datuk Liaw Choon Liang, the company is expected to be listed on the ACE market on July 27, 2010.

MRCA member Liow Ren Jan will fly to Beijing to receive the Outstanding Chinese Business Leader Award on Sunday. He is among 60 shortlisted nominees picked from outstanding business leaders in the world. Liow, 44, is chief executive officer of AYS Sdn Bhd in Petaling Jaya which manufactures microwaveable, halal, frozen and ready-to-eat Malaysian meals under the Sri Kulai brand. The award is one of several given by Hongqi Pictorial, a leading and signature Chinese magazine on current affairs in China and around the world.
