About MRCA

The Beginning

Founded in 1992 by Founder President Dato’ Eddie Choon, Executive Chairman of Poh Kong Jewellers Sdn Bhd, the MRCA acts as an excellent avenue for retail businesses to network and exchange ideas, share resources and to promote the healthy expansion of the retail industry in Malaysia and abroad.

MRCA aims to create a highly supportive environment to build retail businesses and pool ideas, experiences and efforts to tap on various opportunities in Malaysia as well as abroad. Its vision is to be recognized as one of the most influential retail bodies in Malaysia supporting the development and globalization of the retail industry.

In a little over a decade, MRCA has not only become one of the largest and more influential retail associations in Malaysia, but also one of the government's key driving force in shaping Malaysia 's retail industry. With 200 established members of diverse retail businesses and over 6,500 members' stores, it is no surprise that you could easily spot many of our members in any of Malaysia 's shopping malls.
Evidently many of the MRCA members are market leaders that have gained a strong foothold in their respective industries to be listed in the enviable Malaysia Book of Records for their notable achievements.
All MRCA members are committed to developing new market opportunities by:
Sharing market information on the availability of new locations for expansion.
Tapping resources from each member's diversity of business and MRCA's global connections.
Building stronger affiliation and dialogues with global counterparts and prominent business leaders.
Facilitating stronger affinity with Malaysian government agencies and retail/tourism related organisations.
